㉘ Thoughts for the week 28

Mum has had a pretty bad couple of weeks. The news about her immigration medical was first, then came her needing to pay two thousand pounds to get additional tests, then she got a text message form the NHS to say she needs to self-isolate as she had an exposure.

Mum works for the NHS in palliative care. As she’s only worked there for less than a year, she was told she had to take unpaid leave. For being exposed to a virus during her work. How does that make any sense?

It has started to get better, tho. Her CT Scan suggests the granuloma is old, and calcified, and not growing. It also showed no issues with her heart or bones. She still needs to do a sputum test this week, and then a final X-Ray in September. Then, all being well and with all fingers crossed, they’ll be back on their way to getting over here. Assuming my parents aren’t super spies and get stuck in the police check that is.

The pandemic put us back about 9 months, and this medicals issue a further 3 to 4. However, there’s still a chance they’ll be here in 2022, but I think it’s more likely to be 2023 now.

I’m worried about the UK. Their daily numbers are increasing exponentially. And they’re still considering fully opening next week. My parents can’t get here soon enough.
